MADAME X - 2018
Madame X is an honor bestowed monthly on a club member who has given a great deal of time and talent to promote club activities. The recipient of this honor receives a free lunch.
January - Joyce Roddy
It is with great pleasure to bestow the coveted Madame X award to a most deserving recipient – Joyce Roddy. Joyce has graced us with her presence for only a short while but has jumped into the Club feet first. She has hosted a coffee, attended most of our lunches and outings, joined our bowling team, and lastly (but most importantly) agreed to be on the SPANRC Board as our Reservations/Name Tags Chair. Thanks so much Joyce, SPANRC is very fortunate to have you be a part of the Club.
February - Janet Campbell
This month’s Madame X goes to a most deserving member…Miss Janet Campbell. Janet has been a valuable part of SPANRC forever. Her bubbly personality and ability to write a complete sentence was invaluable as our secretary for 2016 and 2017. I would be remiss if I failed to mention her wicked photography skills. As both our official and unofficial photographer, Janet has given all of us a visual reminder of just how much fun SPANRC is! Thank You Janet!
March - Teresa Berens
The coveted Madame X is supposed to be awarded to a member who goes “above and beyond”. This month’s recipient did just that! You are not going to meet a nicer, sweeter, friendlier person than Teresa Berens. She could receive the Madame X just for her wonderful personality. However, she gets the honor not just for her sparkling nature, she receives it for putting Martha Stewart to shame (yes, another Martha reference). Teresa went way “above and beyond” hosting this month’s Book Club. The book centers around a circus and Teresa brought the circus experience to the Book Club. She had a real-life popcorn machine (not the microwaved stuff you would get at my house), peanuts, Rice Krispie bars dipped in white chocolate with sprinkles, homemade pretzel hot dogs, and the veggie plate was a work of art – a clown face! April - Diane Selbitschka
This month’s Madame X recipient couldn’t go to a more deserving lady. Diane Selbitschka most certainly goes above and beyond for our Club. She is not only our Canasta Queen but she also throws a “mean” (just for those that aren’t quite as hip as me, “mean” in this case means “great”) golf tournament. Thank you, Diane for all that you do and all that you bring to our Club!
May - Joan Anderson
This month’s Madame X goes to a most worthy member. Not only is Joan Anderson smart, stylish, and classy…she is a most generous lady by helping me out and agreeing to be on the Board again. Thank you, Joan – you are the best!
June - Marjorie Gross
This month’s Madame X goes to one of the sweetest, nicest ladies you will ever meet – Marjorie Gross. Marjorie had not been part of SPANRC very long before she graciously volunteered to be part of the Board as our Directory Chairperson. Normally this is not a big job…but Marjorie stepped in during the “New Directory” year. So, her first several months were spent distributing directories. Thanks to Marjorie and thanks to our previous Directory Chair, Judy Onufer, for their hard work getting us the new directories!
September - Colleen Lange and Cathy Mears
This month’s Madam X and Madam Y are most deserving. These two ladies volunteered when no one else would and the club is truly grateful. Colleen Lange and Cathy Mears have done a fabulous job as our beloved Lunch Ladies! I look forward to seeing what other wonderful venues they have in store for next year!
October - Douglass Forbes and Margaret Mitchell
It is with great honor that I bestow this month’s Madam X and Madam Y to a pair of perky and pleasant persons – Douglass Forbes and Margaret Mitchell! Douglass is always offering her time, talents, and home to our club. She is one of the sweetest southern belles you will ever meet! Margaret is also always willing to help out SPANRC. Not only has she co-chaired the table decorations, she has also taken over the November Fundraiser! Thank you, ladies, for the fabulous table decorations and all you do for SPANRC!
November - Fern Natwick
This month’s coveted Madame X goes to a first-year board member and fairly new SPANRC Member – Fern Natwick. When we were scrounging for board members last year, Fern was eager to help even though she was new to our club. Thank you, Fern being our Membership Chair and an integral part of our beloved group!
December - Sue Amo, Joanne Bahr, Penny Barnes, Kathy Janecek, and Sherri Nance
This month's Madam X goes to not one, not two, but a quintuplet of ladies - this means 5 by the way! This group of ladies organize our beloved bowling League. They have the job of administrating, arranging, and marshaling 6 bowling teams and a handful of substitute bowlers every week. Thank you to Sue Amo, Joanne Bahr, Penny Barnes, Kathy Janecek, and Sherri Nance for your hard work!
